GLEN WAVERLEY, VIC. — Nunawading Highway Patrol officers detected a black BMW sedan allegedly being driven at 153km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Monash Freeway, catching a 17-year-old boy speeding in Glen Waverley at about 5.05pm on Saturday, October 17.

When officers approached the driver’s side of the BMW, they discovered a learner’s permit bearing the 17-year-old boy behind the wheel.

His only passenger, an 18-year-old man, held a suspended probationary licence and therefore could not be considered a licensed supervising driver.

The BMW was also not displaying learner driver plates at the time and was subsequently impounded for $1159.

The 17-year-old is expected to be charged on summons with numerous traffic offences.
