LALOR, VIC. — A learner motorcycle rider will have some explaining to do after allegedly being caught at 135km/h in a 40km/h school zone outside a Lalor school.

Members from Fawkner Highway Patrol and Mernda Uniform were working Operation Overwatch when they spotted the CF MOTO travelling along Dalton Road just before 4pm on Friday, June 26.

The vehicle was detected at an alleged speed of 135km/h in the 40km/h zone.

Officers intercepted the motorcycle and spoke with the rider, who produced a learner permit he had held for only two months.

A 20-year-old South Morang man is expected to be charged on summons with exceeding the speed limit by 45km/h or more.

He was forced to walk home after the motorbike was impounded for a period of 30 days for $999.52
