Man charged after armed robbery

MORDIALLOC, VIC. — Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an armed robbery in Mordialloc last week.

MORDIALLOC, VIC. — Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an armed robbery in Mordialloc last week.

It is alleged that the man approached the counter of a bakery on Main Street about 7.55am on Friday, July 3.

Police will allege the man attempted to take baked goods off the counter without paying.

When a staff member asked the man to pay for the items, it is alleged that he produced a suspected imitation firearm.

The 23-year-old man then fled on foot.

No one was physically injured.

Yesterday, investigators arrested a man of no fixed address.

During his search, detectives located and seized multiple alleged stolen items, including power tools, electrical appliances, and a tomahawk axe.

The man has since been charged with:

• being a prohibited person possessing a firearm;

• possession of a firearm in a public place;

• theft;

• theft of a motor vehicle and

• possession of a controlled weapon.

He appeared before the Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
