DANDENONG NORTH, VIC. — Nunawading Highway Patrol officers have impounded an allegedly suspended P-plater’s vehicle after it was detected at more than double the speed limit on the Monash Freeway at about 12:40am.

DANDENONG NORTH, VIC. — Nunawading Highway Patrol officers have impounded an allegedly suspended P-plater’s vehicle after it was detected at more than double the speed limit on the Monash Freeway at about 12:40am.

Officers were patrolling the Monash Freeway outbound near Stud Road when they sighted a Volkswagen Golf speeding.

It is alleged the unregistered car was travelling at 220km/h in the 100km/h zone.

Police intercepted the vehicle and spoke to the driver, who allegedly produced a suspended probationary licence.

The 20-year-old Hallam man is expected to be charged on summons with several traffic offences, including driving whilst suspended, driving a probationary-prohibited vehicle, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, failing to display P plates, driving dangerously, and driving dangerously.

The Volkswagen was impounded for 30 days for $1091.90.
