Motorcycle rider dies following Preston collision

PRESTON, VIC. — A man has died after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a vehicle in Preston last night.

PRESTON, VIC. — A man has died after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a vehicle in Preston last night.

It is understood the rider was travelling south on High Street when he collided with a vehicle turning from Gower Street into High Street about 6.40pm.

Officers arrived at the scene and saw two people in a stolen Kia Rio leaving the area at high speed.

Officers followed the vehicle through Heidelberg West and into Preston, where the 30-year-old female passenger got out and was arrested.

The rider, a man in his 60s, was treated at the scene by paramedics but died en route to hospital.

The driver and sole occupant of the Mercedes, a 53-year-old Preston man, remained at the scene.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing.
