Nunawading police are appealing for assistance from the public following a serious collision in Box Hill South at about 10pm last night.
Investigators have been told a man in his 70s was crossing Middleborough Road and as he crossed the road he was struck by a northbound car.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene and the pedestrian was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
Investigators wish to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who has camera footage.
