Mornington Peninsula Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a house fire in Alma Street, Tootgarook just after midnight.

Mornington Peninsula Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a house fire in Alma Street, Tootgarook just after midnight.

A 57-year-old woman was inside the property at the time of the incident.

She was rescued by a member of the public and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It is believed fireworks and flares were set off in the street just before the fire.

Investigations are ongoing and the fire is being treated as suspicious at this stage.
