Shipping container blaze

CAMPBELLFIELD, VIC. — Firefighters responded to an incident on Malcolm Place, Campbellfield at 1:45pm on Saturday, following multiple calls to Triple Zero (000) reporting flames and smoke in the area.

CAMPBELLFIELD, VIC. — Firefighters responded to an incident on Malcolm Place, Campbellfield at 1:45pm on Saturday, following multiple calls to Triple Zero (000) reporting flames and smoke in the area.

Fire Rescue Victoria Crews arrived on scene in 7 minutes to find smoke and flames issuing from a 40 ft shipping container and a 15m x 10m steel shed at a property within an industrial estate.

A total of 38 firefighters were on scene to assist, with crews in breathing apparatus working quickly to extinguish the flames and make the scene safe.

The owner of the business involved reported that there were no occupants at the time of the fire. A search by firefighters confirmed this.

A Community Advice was issued warning of large amounts of smoke in the area.

This incident was deemed under control at 3:28pm, 36 minutes after FRV’s arrival.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
