BULLA, VIC. — Fawkner Highway Patrol officers suspended the licence and impounded the blue Ford Falcon of a 24-year-old Sunbury man after Highway Patrol clocked the vehicle at an alleged speed of 186km/h in an 80km/h zone on Sunbury Road about 6.50pm yesterday.

The unregistered Falcon was intercepted, and the 24-year-old Sunbury man allegedly claimed the car’s registration had expired after spending a month at the mechanic.

The vehicle was impounded for $1159, and the driver received two fines amounting to $2092. His licence was suspended immediately for a year.

It can only be assumed the Sunbury man regrets that he “just put his foot down”, he allegedly stated to police at the scene.
