MICKLEHAM, VIC. — Police have arrested a man and recovered an allegedly stolen vehicle in Mickleham in the early hours of this morning.

Officers responded to reports of offenders stealing a grey Audi from the driveway of an Eastside Boulevard, Donnybrook, address just before 2am.

Access was not gained to the home.

Police quickly descended on the area, including Whittlesea Crime Investigation detectives and members in the area from both Operation Trinity and Operation Eclipse.

The Audi was spotted travelling on Donnybrook Road towards Mickleham, reaching alleged speeds of 150km/h in an 80km/h zone.

A pursuit was called, and police units took off after the vehicle.

Soon after, the Audi pulled over to the side of Donnybrook Road.

Officers moved in and arrested the alleged driver, a 32-year-old Dandenong man.

He will be interviewed by investigators.

It is believed the Audi ran out of petrol during the alleged getaway.

Police remain on the hunt for a second vehicle that had been travelling in convoy with the Audi and may contain offenders who attended the Eastside Boulevard address.

An investigation remains ongoing.

Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.

Please note this incident is in no way related to Operation Eclipse. Police were simply in the area at the time and assisted in apprehending the alleged offender and recovering the vehicle.
