Firefighters spent the early morning hours battling a fire at an abandoned building in Mt Waverley.
Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) firefighters were called to the weatherboard home in Lawrence Road after midnight following multiple Triple Zero (000) calls. They arrived on the scene within six minutes.
Firefighters worked quickly to gain the upper hand on the blaze, getting it under control within 20 minutes of arriving.
Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria also attended.
The fire has caused severe damage to the home. A building surveyor will attend today to make an assessment.
The incident is being treated as suspicious and has been referred to Victoria Police.
