Taxi driver hands in ‘substantial’ amount of cash found in taxi to police

Police are seeking to reunite a quantity of cash located in a taxi on June 14 with its owner.

Police are seeking to reunite a quantity of cash located in a taxi on June 14 with its owner.

Officers were told a taxi driver located the substantial amount of money during a routine cleaning of the taxi.

The driver promptly attended Moorabbin police station and handed over the cash to police.

It is understood the driver had driven the taxi across numerous suburbs of metropolitan Melbourne for several days prior to locating the money.

Police would like to return the money to its rightful owner.

Evidence of ownership, the specific amount of money and knowledge of its packaging will be required when contacting Moorabbin Police Station on (03) 9556 6565.
