A 20-year-old Yarraville man and a 22-year-old man from Westemeadows are currently under police guard in hospital following the death of a man in Campbellfield overnight.
They came to police attention after being dropped at a hospital with injuries and will be interviewed later.
Homicide Squad detectives are investigating following reports a man had been shot outside a property in Gentles Avenue, on Friday, December 20, at about 10.10pm.
The 60-year-old victim, from Craigieburn, was taken to hospital where he died.
Detectives are also investigating whether the discovery of a burnt-out car on Northbourne Road in Campbellfield just after 11pm is linked to the incident.
At this stage, police believe the incident was targeted and the people involved are known to one another.
