LALOR, VIC. — A driver had his license suspended and vehicle impounded after allegedly blowing four times the limit in Lalor yesterday.

Road Policing Drug & Alcohol Section officers set up an alcohol and drug testing site on Dalton Road when a driver pulled in and returned an alleged evidentiary reading of 0.211 per cent BAC.

The alleged reading constitutes more than four times the legal limit.

The 49-year-old’s licence was suspended on the spot.

His car was impounded for a period of 30 days at a cost just shy of $1000.

The Wollert man is expected to be charged on summons for alleged drink-driving offences.

Drink driving remains a significant contributing factor in fatal and serious injury collisions in Victoria.

Victoria Police conducts 3 million preliminary roadside breath tests annually.

There is zero tolerance for drink driving, and the penalties are significant if you are caught driving over the legal limit.

Victoria Police supports any measure that reduces the risk of drink driving.
