HEIDELBERG WEST, VIC. — At 8.36pm on Saturday night, firefighters responded to an incident on Ebony Parade, Heidelberg West, after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a structure fire.
Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) firefighters arrived on scene to find a single-storey brick unit well alight, with flames visible through the roof.
Crews immediately escalated the response, sending additional appliances and firefighters to the scene.
Working together, the first-arriving FRV crews conducted an internal fire attack and a primary search of the premises.
An occupant had self-evacuated from the home before FRV’s arrival.
The occupant was treated by Ambulance Victoria paramedics at the scene.
The fire was deemed under control at 9.47pm.
Firefighters remained on scene overnight Saturday to extinguish hotspots and ensure the safety of the area.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
A total of 33 firefighters and nine appliances attended the incident.
