Firefighters arrived on the scene within minutes to find flames issuing through the roof of the single-storey, brick veneer house in Mulgrave on Friday afternoon.

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews arrived at the Franconia Court scene at 2.18pm.

Confirming that no one was inside, firefighters aggressively fought the fire externally to bring it under control in 50 minutes.

The cause of the fire is suspected to be a lithium-ion battery charging.

EnergySafe Victoria and FRV fire investigators have been informed.

The house was severely damaged.
