Boroondara Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following a jewellery burglary in Kew on Thursday, February 6.

Detectives understand that an unknown man attended a residence on Derby Street about 2.50pm.

Officers have been told the man forced open a lockbox before using the keys inside to gain access to the unoccupied premises.

Once inside, the man rummaged through the resident’s belongings before fleeing with several pieces of jewellery, worth approximately $2,500.

He is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, between 30 to 40 years old and is of average build.

The man was seen wearing a black cap, a black t-shirt, and blue shorts.

He also has a tattoo of a scroll on his right arm and a spider web on his left arm.
