KURUNJANG, VIC. — Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) firefighters responded to several calls that a garage was on fire at Rain Lover Drive, Kurunjang, at 1.32pm.
Firefighters arrived on scene within seven minutes to find that the garage was well alight and spreading to the adjoining house, so the response was escalated to a second alarm.
Crews donned breathing apparatus (BA) and began attacking the fire with an internal attack on the house fire to prevent any further fire spread.
The roof did start collapsing, so firefighters changed to a defensive firefighting strategy.
All occupants have evacuated safely and were assessed by Ambulance Victoria.
The fire was deemed under control by 2.22pm.
The cause of the fire is not yet known and will be investigated by FRV specialists.
Firefighters remain on the scene to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.
Around 28 firefighters attended, with five pumpers, one rescue unit and three other units involved.
