Man charged following non-fatal shooting

FITZROY, VIC. — Armed Crime Squad detectives have charged a 29-year-old Flemington man following a non-fatal shooting of a 44-year-old woman at an apartment on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy at about 6.10pm on August 31.

FITZROY, VIC. — Armed Crime Squad detectives have charged a 29-year-old Flemington man following a non-fatal shooting of a 44-year-old woman at an apartment on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy at about 6.10pm on August 31.

She was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

Detectives arrested a 29-year-old Flemington man yesterday on Oakover Road, Preston.

The Flemington man was allegedly spotted in a stolen vehicle before a short foot pursuit and his subsequent arrest.

He has since been charged with recklessly causing serious injury in circumstances of gross violence, reckless conduct endangering life, aggravated assault of a female, prohibited person possessing a firearm, failing to stop upon police request, theft of a motor vehicle, assaulting police and committing an indictable offence whilst on bail.

He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on December 23.

It is believed the parties involved, although not known to one another, were both known to others present.
