Niddrie factory blaze

NIDDRIE, VIC. — Firefighters this afternoon responded to an incident on Keilor Rd in Niddrie at 12:26pm following multiple calls to triple-zero (000) reporting smoke issuing from a two-storey business.

NIDDRIE, VIC. — Firefighters this afternoon responded to an incident on Keilor Rd in Niddrie at 12:26pm following multiple calls to triple-zero (000) reporting smoke issuing from a two-storey business.

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews arrived on scene in five minutes and established firefighting lines protecting nearby structures.

Firefighters used heavy cutting equipment to gain access to the building.

Heavy smoke was exiting the workshop on the arrival of firefighters, heading into northerly and westerly directions.

A community warning was issued due to heavy smoke in the area.

Multiple buildings were involved.

The fire was contained to the rear of one building.

Two people were safely evacuated from the property, and the incident was deemed under control at 2:13pm.

Firefighters will remain on scene to monitor and ensure hot spots are extinguished.
