DOVETON, VIC. — Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad yesterday afternoon charged a man after a non-fatal shooting in Doveton on Thursday.

A 39-year-old Keysborough man was arrested in a Cheltenham shopping centre shortly after 1pm yesterday.

He was interviewed by police and subsequently charged with reckless conduct endangering life, discharging a firearm at a vehicle with reckless disregard for public safety, discharging a firearm into a vehicle and possessing a firearm when FPO applies.

He appeared before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court late yesterday.

The charges follow an incident where emergency services were called to reports of a man with a gunshot wound to his lower body on Paperbark Avenue around 2pm.

The 35-year-old man, who was located inside a Mazda sedan, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police believe the incident was targeted and that the parties involved are known to each other.
