WOLLERT, VIC. — On Monday, October 27, Taskforce Lunar detectives arrested a man in connection with an offshore illicit tobacco syndicate leader involved in serious and organised crime.
A search warrant was executed at a Wollert residential address and a 57-year-old Wollert man was taken into custody.
Investigators believe the man is a family member of an offshore syndicate leader and is likely the onshore lieutenant for his criminality in both Victoria and Australia, including arsons, extortions and unexplained wealth.
A quantity of cash and three mobile phones were seized from the address.
The man is expected to be charged on summons.
An investigation remains ongoing.
