Conservative right-wing commentator Andrew Bolt turns on Trump

MELBOURNE, VIC.— Herald Sun and News24 journalist and right-wing commentator has finally 'turned on his own type' in a blistering op-ed stating: "Lying blow-hard Trump has betrayed us all — and Australians should be afraid."

MELBOURNE, VIC.— Herald Sun and News24 journalist and right-wing commentator has finally ‘turned on his own type’ in a blistering op-ed stating: “Lying blow-hard Trump has betrayed us all — and Australians should be afraid.”

Bolt, until recently, was a Trump and MAGA movement supporter since Trump’s first Presidential term. Bolt is still a supporter of Pauline Hanson, who, for all intents and purposes, Pauline Hanson is simply ‘Trump Down Under in a Skirt ‘, and One Nation’s followers, party members and supporters are modelled on Trump’s US MAGA movement.

“I like a lot on his ‘war on woke’ … but we now see his plan to Make America Great Again [MAGA] can mean “make Australia poorer, or more in China’s grip,” Bolt said in another op-ed in March 2025.

Suddenly, Bolt says that “Donald Trump was a liar, a bully and a man of low character — but I thought this vicious dog could still bite the right people. Now this buffoon has betrayed us all, and Australians should be especially afraid.”

“Donald Trump was a liar, a bully and a man of low character — but I thought this vicious dog could still bite the right people. Now this buffoon has betrayed us all, and Australians should be especially afraid,” Bolt states in an op-ed to be published in tomorrow’s Herald Sun.

“We conservatives have been betrayed. And Australia has been left without a sure ally in war,” Bolt now says.

Bolt, like many far-right Australian conservatives, is finally realising that Trump doesn’t care about friendly nations with long-term international relationships; all Trump cares about is Trump.

Trump doesn’t even care about his constituents, you know, Americans.

“Sure, I said from the start that Trump was a liar, a bully and a man of low character.

“But I thought this bastard at least could be our bastard. This vicious dog could still bite the right people.

“At first he did. In his first term as president, for instance, Trump backed Israel against its enemies and sealed accords between Israel and four Muslim neighbours.

“Besides, how could anyone entrust the US instead to the Democrats’ candidates for president — a senile Joe Biden, and then his deputy, a giggling, babbling, affirmative-action hire?

“But now look at Trump the buffoon. The blunderer.

“Leave aside what he’s doing to America, good or evil. I’m not American, so care more what he’s doing to the rest of us in a world that’s suddenly so dangerous.

“Judge just by his boasts,” Bolt now says.

“Most notoriously, before his re-election in 2024, Trump promised 50 times he’d stop the war between Russia and Ukraine the moment he won: “If I’m president, I will have that war settled in one day, 24 hours,” Bolt continues.

“Clearly, Trump has no idea what he’s doing, or lies shamelessly.

Suddenly, having now realised that conservatives like Trump and Hanson, who are racist bigots who only cater to oligarchs, wealth, power and multinational corporations, whilst doing nothing to serve the very people who elected them to office, spend as much time as possible avoiding the scrutiny of the press, and suddenly, now it’s too late.

Perhaps Bolt has realised – as the world sits on the brink of WWIII thanks to Trump, that America is no longer the world superpower or the world police it once was – has had a sudden ‘change of heart’ or even an epiphany?

But all that is nothing to Trump’s perfidy in the past week

“Trump is desperate. His poll numbers have tanked to record lows, not least because his war in Iran has driven up fuel prices just ahead of the November 3 elections, which could now cost Republicans control of Congress and turn Trump into a lame-duck president.

“Trump’s response disgraces America and excites its enemies. He hasn’t just floated a barbaric plan to distract voters – livestreaming the execution of jihadist Nidal Hasan, an army major who murdered 13 fellow soldiers.

“He’s also blaming Ukraine, not his own war with Iran, for the higher fuel prices, and is punishing it,” Bolt says.

If only Australia’s One Nation followers, party members and her far right army of ‘influencers’ would read what even one of their own, the fasr-right conservative Murdoch columinst himself, has finally realised just how f__cked Trump and America now is.

“The leader of the free world has become its Benedict Arnold. Even Republican politicians are aghast, but Australians should be especially frightened.

“Can we still trust America to help save us in war, while it’s ruled by Trump or some other suck-up to tyrants?” Bolt asks.

The answer to that, Andrew Bolt, is ‘no’. The same ‘no’ that Australian conservatives and conservative journalists should think about whilst they clap along like seals to Pauline Hanson’s One Nation, Australia’s own Donald Trump, just in a skirt, not a suit.

Hanson has red hair. Trump wears red ties.

Pay attention, Andrew Bolt.
