Tim Wilson made a surprise appearance at the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) office in Mount Waverley today, where a recount for Goldstein is being conducted.
Mr Wilson was sighted lurking around the reception area. Candidates aren’t allowed to attend during recounts, but Mr Wilson was ‘delivering fruit’.
The AEC responded that “[they are] aware a candidate was there briefly. He was not scrutineering. Our staff at the centre of course, spoke to him and he was not there long.
“The candidate [Tim Wilson] has even posted about it, stating the intention of delivering food to candidate-appointed scrutineers,” the AEC said in a statement.
Tim Wilson did not respond to requests for comment.
