Firefighters responded to a structure fire at 1.16am on Main Road, Mordialloc, after multiple calls to triple-0 reported a shop fire.
Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) firefighters arrived on the scene within three minutes to find smoke and flames issuing from the single-storey shop. The response was escalated.
Firefighters wore breathing apparatus to attack the fire and prevent its spread to adjoining shops, one of which had second-storey accommodation.
All occupants evacuated safely.
The fire was deemed under control at 1.49am.
At the peak of the response, there were 10 fire trucks and 30 firefighters on scene.
The fire was contained to the affected shop, however, there was smoke penetration into two neighbouring shops.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
It will be investigated by FRV Fire Investigation Unit specialists.
