CLAYTON, VIC. — Monash University Student Theatre (MUST) presents the contemporary Australian play Prickly Love until Saturday, October 3 at the MUST Space, Monash University.
April won’t settle for anyone less than hilarious, and Matt can’t figure out how to say hello. Holly is exploring the secrets of the universe. Harry loves Danny, but just can’t quite believe that their office romance can survive, and Lila is wondering if a cactus will tear her relationship apart.
In amongst the water cooler lovers and the lunchroom anxieties, runs a deep truth about the difficulty of staying connected, building meaningful relationships and keeping out all the noise in a very noisy time.
Written by Gita Bezard and directed by Tiara Pires, assisted by Nethuli Bandara, Prickly Love tells of the challenging climate of modern love, depicted with honest hilarity through messy breakfast breakups, bad dates with finance bros, and the untangling of complicated expectations.
Amongst the office crushes and lunchroom anxieties, runs a deep truth about the importance of staying connected and how love remains after all this time.
MUST sets Prickly Love in close-to-home, colourful inner-city Melbourne. Director Tiara Pires describes the show as a “com-rom” theatre experience, which interrogates “the thoroughly relatable absurdity of who we are as people and how we treat one another.”
