Alexandra Crime Investigation Unit detectives yesterday charged a 36-year-old Melton woman after an alleged burglary and theft of a Landcruiser CFA firefighting ute.
The 2006 Toyota Landcruiser with CFA markings – known as a ‘slip-on’ or ‘quick attack’ was allegedly stolen along with the attached firefighting equipment from the Highlands CFA on Ghin Ghin Road, last Thursday, January 9.
Police sighted the vehicle parked in a service station on the Hume Highway, Tallarook and attempted to intercept it on Friday, January 10.
The Landcruiser ute allegedly collided with an unoccupied police car before driving away with police in quick pursuit.
Police lost sight of the Landcruiser. It was soon located abandoned on the Hume Freeway at Wallan.
The 36-year-old Melton South woman was arrested nearby and was interviewed by detectives. She is expected to be charged on summons.
A male suspect is yet to be identified.
