Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal fire that occurred in Lake View Street, Boort this evening.
Emergency services were called to Lake View Street, Boort at about 5.50pm after reports a caravan had caught fire.
Fire crews extinguished the blaze. Sadly, a deceased child was located inside.
The Arson and Explosives Squad has been notified and an arson chemist will attend the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
Emergency services are aware of the impact such a tragic incident can have on family, friends, community members and first responders. Police will ensure that welfare services are in place.
The investigation is ongoing.
