HAWTHORN EAST, VIC. — Armed Crime Squad detectives charged five people following an armed robbery at The Tower Hotel in Hawthorn East on Thursday morning.
It is alleged four offenders attended The Tower Hotel on Burwood Road about 1.20am on Thursday, September 10.
Investigators alleged they were armed with knives and confronted the victim, making demands for money.
They allegedly stole cash and fled the scene.
The victim, a staff member inside the venue at the time, was not physically injured.
Armed Crime Squad detectives subsequently arrested a man and woman in an allegedly stolen Subaru Forester SUV in Glen Waverley on Thursday morning.
A 43-year-old ACT man was charged with armed robbery, aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle and using a controlled weapon without an excuse whilst a 32-year-old ACT woman was charged with armed robbery, aggravated burglary and theft of motor vehicle.
They appeared at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
With assistance from Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives, another man was arrested as he exited a shopping centre on Nepean Highway in Cheltenham on Thursday.
The 37-year-old man was charged with armed robbery, aggravated burglary, burglary and theft.
They also appeared at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Another teenage boy and woman were later arrested in Ricketts Point carpark in Beaumaris yesterday afternoon.
The 17-year-old boy from the ACT was charged with burglary, theft, armed robbery and aggravated burglary and appeared before a children’s court.
A 20-year-old woman has been charged with possessing a drug of dependence and possessing proceeds of crime and was bailed to appear at the Moorabbin Justice Centre on November 27.
The charges for the 17-year-old boy and 37-year-old man also relate to an alleged burglary at an RSL in Box Hill overnight on September 8 and 9.
