Firefighters responded to a structure fire on the Nepean Highway, Moorabbin after callers to triple-zero (000) reported a bowling alley fire.
At 3.21pm, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) arrived on scene – within four minutes – to find smoke and flames issuing from the roof of the single-storey brick building.
Eleven additional firefighting trucks were initially sent due to the number of 000 calls received.
A search undertaken by firefighters confirmed that no one was inside. The centre was currently closed for business.
The scene was deemed under control at 4:39pm.
The fire has been deemed suspicious.
Firefighters remain on the scene to fully extinguish the fire and undertake fire duties.
Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria are also on the scene.
Power and gas companies also attended.
