ARMADALE, VIC. — A 51-year-old Mont Albert man has been charged after he allegedly assaulted another man at a licensed premises in Armadale last month after handing himself in to police.
Police understand the 64-year-old victim, who is visually impaired and requires a cane, was seated inside when he was approached by a man at the premises on High Street on Saturday, July 25, just after 7pm.
The man allegedly struck the victim multiple times to the face.
The 64-year-old man was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and released the following day.
Yesterday, the 51-year-old Mont Albert man handed himself in to a police station and was interviewed in relation to the incident.
He was charged with intentionally causing injury and common law assault and bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on January 19, 2027.
The victim sustained multiple facial injuries and his prosthetic eye, valued at approximately $5000, required to be replaced.
His glasses were also damaged during the incident.
