Driver charged following collision

BRUNSWICK WEST, VIC. — Fawkner Highway Patrol officers have charged a driver following a collision in Brunswick West on Thursday, June 4.

Emergency services were called to reports a car had struck a pedestrian at the intersection of Melville Road and Victoria Street just after 8.30am.

The pedestrian, a 70-year-old female, was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle stopped momentarily but fled prior to police arrival.

A Brunswick man presented himself to a police station this morning.

The 40-year-old man has been charged with unlicensed driving, failing to stop and render assistance at a collision scene with serious injuries, failing to render assistance at the scene of a serious collision and failing to notify police of a serious injury collision.

He was bailed to appear at Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on October 5.
