Firefighters contain factory fire

MELTON, VIC. — Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to an incident in Cobra Street, Melton at 2.37am after a single call to Triple Zero Victoria (TZV) reported a factory fire.

MELTON, VIC. — Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to an incident in Cobra Street, Melton at 2.37am after a single call to Triple Zero Victoria (TZV) reported a factory fire.

FRV and CFA crews arrived on scene within six minutes to find both floors of a double-story concrete tilt slab factory (with a tin roof) involved in fire. One side of the structure contained an office area.

The response was escalated to a Second Alarm with crews, wearing breathing apparatus (BA), attacking the blaze to prevent any fire spread to adjoining properties.

The blaze was contained to the original structure.

No one was occupying the factory at the time of the fire.

The incident was deemed under control at 3.03am.

The fire was deemed suspicious. Victoria Police wil investigate.

A municipal Building Surveyor was requested to attend today.

Police and Ambulance were on scene to assist FRV with operations.

The power company attended to isolate power.

A total of 13 appliances and 38 firefighters attended.
