HOPPERS CROSSING, VIC. — Detectives from the Sexual Crimes Squad have further charged a man following an investigation into sexual assaults in Hoppers Crossing in July.
A 39-year-old Williams Landing man was yesterday charged with unlawful assault, common law assault, assault with intent to commit a sex offence, stalking, aggravated burglary, false imprisonment, unlawful assault, common law assault and two counts of rape.
The charges related to two alleged incidents which occurred in the Hoppers Crossing area on July 23 and 24.
In the first, police will allege a man approached a woman near a secondary school on Fraser Street around 5pm on Thursday, July 23 and attempted to sexually assault her. The woman was able to escape and wasn’t physically injured during the incident.
In the second incident, a woman was outside a primary school on Langridge Street when a man followed her into the school building shortly before 7am on Friday, July 24, where he sexually assaulted her.
The 39-year-old was previously charged on July 25 with two counts of rape, and one count each of aggravated burglary and threat to kill.
The man from Williams Landing was taken into custody in Hoppers Crossing on Friday July 24, around 11.40am.
Those charges follow an incident on Thursday, July 23, where a man, armed with a knife, allegedly forced entry to a property on Whitsunday Drive around 11.30am before sexually assaulting a woman.
The man remains remanded in custody.
He will appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on November 27.
