MARIBYRNONG, VIC. — Alliance Taskforce detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a stabbing at the Highpoint Shopping Centre in Maribyrnong yesterday evening.

Police responded to reports of a group of people fighting outside a cinema in the complex on Rosamond Road just after 7pm on Wednesday,  May 27.

A 16-year-old Dallas boy sustained a stab wound during the incident and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two teenagers sustained minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.

The offenders fled on foot before police arrived.

A knife was located at the scene and seized by police.

No arrests have been made. The investigation remains ongoing.

Victoria Police intelligence shows public stabbings have decreased by almost 10 per cent over the past year.

This has coincided with police removing a record number of knives from the community, with almost 22,000 seized and destroyed since the start of last year.
