GLENROY, VIC. — Detectives from the Merri-Bek Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) are appealing for information after a man was seriously injured during a road rage incident in Glenroy on Saturday, October 3, at about 7.15pm.
Investigators have been told the victim was driving south on Pascoe Vale Road near Glenroy Road when his vehicle was sideswiped by a rider on a moped.
The rider, who was carrying a pillion passenger, was believed to be riding in convoy with another moped – with two people also on board.
Both solo riders and the victim pulled over, and the four riders approached the driver and his passenger, who both got out of the vehicle.
It is believed there was a short verbal exchange about the incident before one of the riders threatened the victim and approached the driver with a knife.
The 58-year-old victim was then punched to the head and struck with the knife, causing a significant injury to his hand which requires surgery.
The quartet fled the scene and were last seen headed south on Pascoe Vale Road.
The Maribyrnong man was transported to hospital, where he remains with serious injuries.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information from motorists who were travelling through the area at the time.
Motorists with dashcams are also urged to make contact with police as they may have inadvertently captured the incident and exchange on camera, which would assist the investigation.
At this stage, the incident is not believed to be linked to other incidents.
