NORTHCOTE, VIC. — A 21-year-old Collingwood man has been charged after it is alleged threats were made following an aggravated burglary in Northcote last night.
Police were called to reports of a man stealing keys to a vehicle from a gymnasium on Arthurton Road about 8.30pm.
Prosecutors will allege that the Collingwood man was interrupted by the vehicle’s owner after he had gained access to both the carpark and the vehicle a short time later.
Allegedly caught rummaging through the car’s contents, the Collingwood man made threats and fled the scene on foot.
No one was physically injured.
Police and Protective Service Officers moved in and promptly searched the area.
He was swiftly arrested without further incident and has been charged with aggravated burglary and theft.
He was remanded to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
