PRESTON, VIC. — Police and Protective Services officers were patrolling the food court of the Northland Shopping Centre on Murray Road, Preston, yesterday when they observed a group of females brawling at about 6.20pm.

Four girls aged 12, 14, 16, 17 and an 18-year-old woman were arrested.

The 14-year-old sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital.

The 12-year-old sustained minor injuries and was treated by Ambulance paramedics. She was released pending further enquiries.

Police interviewed the 18-year-old Coburg North woman and the 16- and 17-year-olds, both from the Hume area, and expect to charge them on summons.

Operation Pulse officers also seized a knife which was allegedly produced during the brawl.

Banyule Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) detectives are continuing their investigation.
