Melbourne CIU detectives are investigating an alleged attempted kidnapping which occurred in Melbourne last year.
Investigators have been told the victim, a 36-year-old woman, was contacted on November 4 by people purporting to be from Chinese immigration and police.
They told her her phone number had been used in local scams.
The victim was kept on the phone for several hours and provided numerous personal details before the call was concluded.
The next day a woman attended the victim’s address claiming to have a warrant for her arrest.
The victim and her friend confronted the woman and started filming, which caused her to leave.
