BRIGHTON EAST, VIC. — Police have arrested an 18-year-old Baxter man following a pursuit in an allegedly stolen BMW through Melbourne’s southeast this morning.
Police will allege that the offenders forced entry into a property on Beddoe Avenue, Brighton East, where they stole the keys for two cars about 3.45am.
A short time later, they allegedly entered a property on Union Street, Brighton East. They were disturbed by the occupant and fled empty-handed.
Police will allege the offenders returned to the house on Beddoe Avenue and stole a white BMW about 4.20am.
They also entered a different property on Union Street and stole a green Subaru.
A short time later, Air Wing spotted the BMW travelling at speed on the Nepean Highway towards Mordialloc.
Police units on the ground followed the car through multiple suburbs before it was pursued on the Monash Freeway.
Stop sticks were deployed in Keysborough, but the BMW continued on its rims.
The car came to a stop inbound on the Monash Freeway in Glen Waverley, around 1km from Huntingdale Road.
The driver, an 18-year-old Baxter man, was arrested at the scene.
He was taken to hospital with minor injuries and will be interviewed today.
