SOUTHBANK, VIC. — Police arrested two teenagers this morning following an alleged arson attack in Southbank.

Emergency services were called to a fire at a bar on Southbank Boulevard about 4.20am.

Police will allege in court that the offenders arrived at the licensed premises, which was closed at the time, with matches and jerry cans.

They allegedly started a fire, then fled in a silver Nissan Patrol.

Officers spotted the Nissan leaving the area and followed it through Richmond to Balwyn.

The vehicle came to a dead-end on Dundee Street, where Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) officers arrested two male teens just before 5am.

Two boys alleged to be occupants of the Nissan, aged 16 and 17, were taken into custody.

Investigators will interview them.
