A 13-year-old boy has been arrested by police following an aggravated carjacking in Thompsons Road, Cranbourne about 12:10am.
Police have been told two female friends were sitting in their car in a carpark off Thompsons Road when a male approached them.
The boy engaged the pair in conversation before he made demands for the car and produced a knife.
The two young women ran from the vehicle before they were able to raise the alarm.
Cranbourne members quickly responded and arrested the teen as he tried to run from the scene.
The Cranbourne boy has been interviewed and was charged with aggravated carjacking.
He is expected to appear before a children’s court today. Police will seek his remand.
The women, aged 18 and 19, weren’t physically injured in the incident.
