A two-storey home in one of Melbourne’s most exclusive streets in Toorak has collapsed after it was engulfed in flames.
At 12.18am, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews responded to an incident on the corner of Ultimo Court and St Georges Road, Toorak, after callers to triple-zero reported a house fire.
Firefighters arrived on the scene within five minutes to find smoke and flames issuing from the two-storey brick house, so the response was escalated to a second alarm.
FRV crews donned breathing apparatus and began an external attack on the fire, as well as preventing any fire spread to adjoining properties from significant ember attack.
Adjoining properties were “under significant ember attack,” a FRV spokesperson said.
There were no occupants at home. The fire took about 45 minutes to bring under control.

There has been a significant structural collapse due to the intensity of the fire.
The fire was deemed under control by 1:05am.
The newly rebuilt two-storey mansion on the corner of Ultimo Court and St Georges Road, Toorak has been deemed suspicious by investigators just after 7am this morning.
The property is estimated to be valued at $20 million.
