Firefighters responded to a house and garage fire in Truganina overnight.

A fire on Angaston Way, Truganina, was reported at 11.33pm. FRV and CFA firefighters arrived on scene to find a brick garage fully involved in fire, which also quickly spread into the adjoining single-storey brick home.

The occupants self-evacuated before FRV’s arrival. Ambulance Victoria paramedics treated one person for shock.

Crews brought the fire under control at 12.17am.

Half of the property has been severely damaged by fire, with the remainder smoke and water-affected. A building inspector will inspect the structural integrity of the building today.

The occupants will be sourcing alternative accommodation.

The fire was caused by unattended cooking in the garage.
