NOBLE PARK, VIC. — Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after a woman was struck by a car in Noble Park early Saturday morning.

It is believed a man was approached by a group of people, including the woman, in a car park of an aquatic centre on Memorial Drive about 2.50am.

A verbal confrontation occurred, and the man subsequently locked himself inside his white Nissan Patrol.

It’s alleged the group surrounded and damaged the vehicle before the man attempted to flee, striking the woman with his car in the process.

The 24-year-old Bentleigh woman was transported to hospital by witnesses with life-threatening injuries.

The driver, a 30-year-old man with no fixed address, immediately contacted Triple Zero (000) and drove to Dandenong Police Station.

The man has been spoken to by investigators and released pending further investigation.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
