Detectives are appealing for public assistance following a carjacking in North Blackburn around 7:45pm last night.

Detectives are appealing for public assistance following a carjacking in North Blackburn around 7:45pm last night.

The victim, the sole occupant of a silver Nissan two-door coupe, pulled up at the intersection of Katrina Street and Koonung Road as a second vehicle collided with the rear of the Nissan.

As the victim got out to assess the damage and exchange details the front passenger from the second vehicle confronted the victim, produced a knife and snatched their car keys.

The offender stole the Nissan and took off in convoy with the second vehicle.

The victim was not physically injured.

Despite a police search of the area, the offenders and vehicles were not located.

The investigation remains ongoing.
