VICTORIA. — With the Victorian state election fast approaching, these are all the important dates and why politicians are now making announcements on social media, TV, radio and in newspapers around the clock as the state election looms large.
• Tuesday, November 3: Writs issued and State Parliament can no longer sit at 6 pm;
• Tuesday, November 3: Roll closes at 8pm;
• Wednesday, November 4: Nominations and postal vote applications open;
• Monday, November 9: Nominations close for all candidates at midday;
• Tuesday, November 10: How-to-vote card registration opens at 9am;
• Tuesday, November 17: Low sensory voting is available from 10am to 4pm;
• Wednesday, November 18: Early voting and telephone-assisted voting opens;
• Friday, November 20: How-to-vote card registration closes at midday;
• Wednesday, November 25: Postal vote applications close at 6pm;
• Friday, November 27: Early voting closes at 6 pm; and
• Saturday, November 28: Election day – voting (and democracy sausages available) from 8am to 6pm.
