14 year old singer recognised by Shire

Murrindindi Shire presented Rozanne Lawton, Enzo Spangher, Hannah Cooney, Max Westwood and  Cherri Anderson with Certificates of Recognition at Wednesday nights council meeting at Yea on March 28.

Councillor Leigh Dunscombe recognised 14-year-old Cherri Anderson for her musical talent after singing Advance Australia Fair pre-race at the 2018 Jayco Herald Sun Tour in Kinglake.

“It is my greatest pleasure to welcome to tonight’s Council meeting Kinglake West teenager, Cherri Anderson.

“Cherri recently made her international stage debut, singing the national anthem at the Jayco Herald-Sun bike tour in Kinglake on 4 February. The coverage was broadcast live on SBS.

“To say she impressed the audience on the day would be understatement. People throughout the Shire are talking about Cherri’s spectacular voice and charismatic stage presence and are wanting to see more of this talented young singer,” Dunscombe said.

Hannah Cooney and Max Westwood received certificates for their leadership as 2018 Yea High School Captains.with Mayor Charlie Bissett congratulating the students.

“You have now become role models to those around you and within your community.

“Your actions, words and gestures can and will influence other[s].

“Don’t be afraid or nervous of this. Accept these and use it to do good and lay the foundations of a legacy … make a positive difference to your school and community,” Mayor Bissett said.

Rozanne Lawton, General Manager and Enzo Spangher, Executive Director of Assets and Infrasture  from Holmesglen at Eildon were also recognised for winning the silver award for ‘Business Event Venues’ at the 2017 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
