An 81-year-old man has died in hospital following an incident on Main Rd, Eltham on March 23.
The driver, a 33-year-old Eltham woman, stopped at the scene and spoke with police investigators.
The 81-year-old man started walking across Main Road, north of Antoinette Boulevard, shortly after 2pm as a vehicle was approaching.
The driver slowed down and took evasive action to avoid hitting the man, however it’s believed the pedestrian continued to walk and hit the side of the car before falling and striking his head.
The Eltham man was taken to hospital with head injuries and died on March 30.
The woman has not been charged by police.
Currently the 2018 road toll stands at 57 lives lost, equal with last year.
