State Commemoration

On Monday 4 February a State Commemeration will be held at Royal Exhibition Building Carlton Gardens, 9 Nicholson St, Carlton. Doors open 5pm for a 6pm service and registration to attend the free event is now open.

February 2019 marks the 10 Year Anniversary of the Victorian “Black Saturday” Bushfires, one of the worst disasters Victoria has experienced.

All are welcome to attend. Attendees will need to be seated by 5.45pm.

Support services will be available at the venue to provide psychological first aid if required.

Media will be present and closely managed to minimise disruption.

The event will be live-streamed here, starting at 6pm Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT), Monday 4 February 2019.

At the conclusion of official proceedings, all attendees will be invited to Melbourne Museum for refreshments and to view the exhibition ‘From the Heart – Remembering the 2009 Victorian Bushfires’.

The State Commemoration will remember the 173 people who lost their lives, the countless more impacted across the State and beyond, and to acknowledge those who contributed to the response.
